Want to add a mystic dimension to your writing? Come Zoom with me this summer as we spark our imagination and gather symbols and myth from the Tarot! These cards are a tool we can use to access our most fascinating Muse. Over four weeks we will investigate different aspects of the deck. Joanne will supply examples and prompts. Each participant will also receive a personal fortune regarding their gifts and purpose as a writer.

Tuesday, July 15, 10 a.m. Introduction to Tarot cards and the many ways to use them. We will choose a card and write a poem together. Participants will be sent 3 cards ahead of time to use in other exercises.

Tuesday, July 22, 10 a.m. We investigate the Major Arcana. We will discuss these powerful archetypes and what they might mean for our lives, our writing practice and a piece we are working on. Each writer will receive a personal Major Arcana card before class time.

Tuesday, July 29, 10 a.m. We learn about the minor arcana, the 4 suits. We will talk about creating work from experiences in our daily experiences. We will explore the Court Cards that might be real people in our lives, past and present. Each participant will receive one card from each suit ahead of time.

Tuesday, August 5, 10 a.m. Tarot lay-outs – how they can contribute to the overall structure of our writing. We create stories and plot lines from the Tarot and we might even invent a new poetic form! Writers will receive cards before class to use with one of the prompts.
